What can poor human do? Ghanshyam Maharaj (Bhagwan Swaminarayan), at 11 years old Bhagwan Swaminarayan stayed at Chhapaiya for 11 years, 2 months, 3 days When his sister-in-law, Suhasini, figured out he will not be staying, young Ghanshyam Maharaj, while eating, said I am not only yours, I am everyones She teared up and asked Ghanshyam Maharaj to look after them. Ghanshyam Maharaj, smiling said, I will look after those who come into my association, birds, and animals. You have served me so much (so of course I will look after you). That night, he left his home and embarked on a 2500-mile journey though the Himalayas, forsaking food and water He did not put food nor water in his mouth. Where did he get the strength to live? We just need to take the positive from this Wouldn’t the cold weather affect him during the harsh winter months? For 7 years, he stayed in the harsh environment of the Himalayas, going through snow, forests, thorns, birds, animals, lions and other predators And yet, he traveled peacefully We just need to consider that, how graceful he is and how incredible was his penance In Vachanamrut Sarangpur 16, he blessed us by saying, “The penance I did” If we want to fast for Ekadashi without water, we are unable to If we have to sit in the sun, we start fanning ourselves with our clothes To travel in freezing temperatures without clothes without even having a stuffed nose or even a thought of distress And to think of the upliftment of everyone When God started this journey, with this thought like I said before We need to do only one thing: for God or his Sant, we need to surrender. They just talked about that, surrendering The more we take positive, we will surrender more Its not a one day thing. We are plagued with desires, anger, greed, various types of ego With so much garbage within us, millions of thanks to Bhagwan Swaminarayan as he allowed redemption by association only I am going to talk about 2 incidents When Bhagwan Swaminarayan enters Gopal Yogi’s ashram at the age of 13.5 years He entered with the goal of helping his soul. Gopal Yogi told Bhagwan Swaminarayan, who came with folded hands, to stay at his ashram. The accomplishments I have attained in Yoga, I will impart to you Bhagwan Swaminarayan started serving everywhere in the ashram, from the cooking to cleaning, acupressure, gathering wood. Bhagwan Swaminarayan served for a year and after that, Gopal Yogi was pleased and started teaching Bhagwan Swaminarayan Asthang Yoga, which comprises yam, niyam, asan, pranayama, pratyahara, dhyan, dharna, and samadhi. Gopal Yogi was able to take Bhagwan Swaminarayan to the first 6 steps slowly. At this point, the 79 year old Gopal Yogi folded his hands to the 13 years old Ghanshyam Maharaj and said this is the farthest I have gotten and can take you. Dharna and samadhi is out of my hands and now you grace me. The word dharna is very difficult. We cannot handle this worlds money, ego, indifferent about other’s thoughts, followers. We cannot handle people of the opposite sex This is talking about infinite powers, wealth, happiness and yet keep utmost humbleness and head bowed to God at all times. Without that, dharna is not possible. Gopal Yogi folded his hands and said “it is not my job.” Bhagwan Swaminarayan wanted to bless him and said, let me help you finish the last two steps And when he wished for it and set his sights upon Gopal Yogi, the last two steps were immediately attained The five senses turned inwards and started experiencing the bliss of God’s idol. This is history. Gopal Yogi did nothing. Understand this. I am asking you the following: What did Gopal Yogi do? Did he understand the Swaminarayan mantra? What motives did Gopal Yogi have to teach Bhagwan Swaminarayan the first 6 steps? He did not know anything, but Bhagwan Swaminarayan wanted to give him his idol out of grace, blessed him with samadhi for six hours There, when he came out of samadhi, the 79 year started prostrating before the 13 year old God. I spent 50 years looking for God and I have found you. You are not Nilkanth, you don’t have hair, you don’t have that body, you are the divine form of God Almighty. I am asking you a question. We know about Atmiyata, Bhoolku, praying, writing mantra, We know about writing mantra, concept of Bhoolku, notion of whether someone becomes Atmiya or not, we know about shibir, good company Jasbhai shaheeb talked so wonderfully this morning. He spoke of Sardar Patel, without negative thoughts I always talk about Sardar. When religion or Sant is removed from one’s life, they are considered animals, not human That individual is considered immoral and does not posses common sense to determine what to see, hear, and say Jawaharlal Nehru asked Sardar, what is the reason you stay calm and I get anger at the smallest things? For fourteen and half years, he ran sessions of parliament and there was not a single session where he did not get angry on way or another. And Sardar, who spoke with millions starting from the 1930s, he would tolerate Gandhi’s crazy behavior. It was then that Sardar told Jawaharlal Nehru that I have hands of two on my head. When I was at home in Karamsad, my mother would sit in front of God’s idol and pray for an hour where I had to sit. That is one hand set of hands on my head The other set are those of my guru Shastriji Maharaj, the result being AC like coolness and never the chance of getting anger He got slightly irritated at the foolish leaders of India who initiated the transfer of power at midnight on August 25. We start looking at the negatives and gossiping about others at the slightest chance When we start thinking about our actions, then we realize we are wrong We want to resolve here today When Sardar replied that he is graced, Jawaharlal Nehru replied that religion and I do not get along well Then Sardar said, you will ruin this country. And today, we are seeing that result. Without religion, an individual cannot become human and without a Sant, an individual cannot be alive. Religion will give you wisdom and a Sant’s blessings will instill that wisdom in your soul. When the first President of India, Rajendra Prasad, was selected, he did not tell anyone he will be travelling to Patna Reemmber the words. You cannot handle women, ego and wealth without the blessings of a Sant On top of that, happiness, peace and joy can’t be handled without diving into the live of a Sant Further to top that, divine powers, and followers cannot be handled without realizing nothing but God’s Sant is the ultimate. This is past you and you will not comprehend. I am trying to talk you to a different place. There are 5 thousand lower caste youths sitting here today. All of them should pray that they become Bhoolku. If you pray for that, when you do get angry, at least you will have a desire to pray after getting angry. From the day Yogiji Maharaj came to this earth, throughout his life, starting at 6.5 years when he was with his Guru helping build a temple and a brick fell from his hands It split into two and his Guru Vigyanand Swami came and slapped him twice. He started tearing up and then cried, so others asked why he was crying. Carefully think about this. Yogiji Maharaj did not talk about the slap in his response, but said slowly that I have caused a loss to God. I have not been able to fathom that devotion yet. The more we start thinking about God and his Sant in our lives And the more we start living to please God And the more we start please his Bhagwadi Our soul’s journey will start progressing Rajendra Prasad started his journey as the president on a train. He could have purchased a first class ticket. He was dark skinned, from Bihar He covered himself with a black blanket and started his journey in the third class section of the train. He started the journey at 11 pm and a 4-5 youths boarded as well. They though that he is an old man practicing penance For 4.5 hours, they ridiculed Rajendra Prasad. I am talking about a religious man, not as a President or head of government. I am trying to explain the need for religion and the need for a Sant who has that religion in their life to help instill it in your life. Common sense is no longer prevalent on earth. I am talking about Vachanamrut (V) Pratham (P) 16 & 18, where the five senses should be positive along with their heart, mind and brain. That is called religion. P. 16 & 18, what you know and I have talking about for 5 years. When we sit to eat or in the sun, that’s when we realize how much we love our body When you find something nice, lets have it. I was in Surat eating with the older man who lived there. I was eating my food peacefully. I am an enemy of sweets from the beginning and I did not want to eat ghari I was eating and the older man said if you say so, I would like for you to give me one ghari as prasad. I did not know he already ate four, he didn’t even tell me I already had four and this will make five We don’t have control over our tongue and 99.999% of people do not know how to speak And I am talking about Rajendra Prasad who knew how to talk. That is why you have to come to shibir, to learn how to talk. We need to get engrossed in the lecturers. Out of every person talking for 30 minutes, God will speak one minute for you through the speaker. Don’t get attached to your body and staying in thoughts about your bones in the bag of skin Think of them as your enemies. You need to get engrossed in the speakers through your eye, heart and soul. And then you will be able to grasp something, or your life will pass like clothes waving in the wind Those who have a high goal, there is no word like hardship in their life. And then there are those like using, serving Bhagwan Swaminarayan through his living lineage of Sants by way of his blessings to stay forever on earth through those Sants Those incredible and unfathomable blessings are why we are blessed by have a nice clear path for our journey. We are troubled because we are unaware of those blessings. We are unaware because we don’t pray and reflect. Those things which bother us, ego, spending money freely. Just think about Yogiji Maharaj’s life and his hardships, pray and reflect, we will get the wisdom to act better This body, five senses, wealth is not yours, you can’t use them as you please. You won’t know when God takes your sense of taste. Eat peacefully thinking of God with each bite. 5 people came to me who lost their sense of taste. They came to me when I was in Calcutta. They were really nice kids. They had no taste, who will give it to them? We run our tongues yet God and his Sant are so graceful that they do not take our speech away. This is God’s Sant’s grace and blessings. You will get tired just thinking about that. We don’t have any idea how to life, just pleasing our five senses and yet we get so many opportunities. We have no idea. Bhagwan Swaminarayan has created it so incredibly. Bhagwan Swaminarayan, during his 7 year travel, passed through forests and arrived at a castle where the king had two daughters Bhagwan Swaminarayan stayed there for two days and they King and his wife started scheming to get their daughters married to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. He is ideal for our daughters, he prays in the morning. The King and his wife spoke to Bhagwan Swaminarayan about their idea. Bhagwan Swaminarayan left that night at 2:30 am. They tried stopping Bhagwan Swaminarayan by saying the thorns will prick you. Bhagwan Swaminarayan stayed 1.5 days and was about to leave. They pleaded that the thorns will hurt you severely. Bhagwan Swaminarayan laughingly replied that I am here to remove the thorns affecting everyone in the form of women and wealth. These physical thorns do not concern me at all. He left without thought. We want to make our souls positive. With that rationale, we need to serve God and continue our journey.
